As many countries are implementing their strategies to leave no one behind, there are a lot of global and regional reports that highlight progress towards reaching the SDGs.
Two reports we’re enjoying reading are ESCAP’s Asia and the Pacific SDG Progress Report, 2017 and the World Bank’s Atlas of Sustainable Development Goals.
In ESCAP’s report, it highlights that the Pacific region has nearly achieved Goal 12 (responsible consumption and production)and has regressed on Goals 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions). These worsening situations are related to worsening measures of economic loss from disasters, corruption perception index and intentional homicide.
The World Bank’s Atlas depicts the SDGs with maps and charts as a narrative. Take a look at the picture of SDG 3.8 below that shows how universal health coverage varies across the world. The Pacific has a low service index, which means that many people cannot access the health services they need.
